Rockport has established itself as a leading online retailer of footwear & apparels and continues to lead the industry in making style comfortable with performance technologies from Adidas. The Situation:

Rockport.com is a multilingual B2C e-commerce portal for shoes, bags, apparel, belts allowing online visitors to view and buy various products. As a major factor of the business strategy, the Portal is paramount to operational performance and the continued success of the business.

Rockport’s product catalogue was maintained manually in Excel sheets by a number of product administrators in various locations nationally and across numerous countries. These excel sheets were later sent to the server administrator in the head office for uploading the new/modified products into the main database. As Rockport diversified and launched newer products lines this manual process proved to be a major bottleneck in providing real time information and initiate new product launch and special offers. Rockport urgently required a solution for managing and uploading the product data on the production server in a time-bound efficient manner.

Rockport decided to engage an IT services company that could demonstrate an expert level of capabilities in developing portals that could also help improve the quality, functionality, performance and overall user experience. The partner should also be able to offer global delivery capabilities along with robust frameworks and enablers to help improve development cycle times whilst mitigating cost.
