Rockport.com is a multilingual B2C e-commerce portal for shoes, bags, apparel, belts allowing online visitors to view and buy various products. As a major factor of the business strategy, the Portal is paramount to operational performance and the continued success of the business.
Rockport’s product catalogue was maintained manually in Excel sheets by a number of product administrators in various locations nationally and across numerous countries. These excel sheets were later sent to the server administrator in the head office for uploading the new/modified products into the main database. As Rockport diversified and launched newer products lines this manual process proved to be a major bottleneck in providing real time information and initiate new product launch and special offers. Rockport urgently required a solution for managing and uploading the product data on the production server in a time-bound efficient manner.

The Rockport decided to partner with JKT to build a comprehensive solution to improve the product data management. After an initial assessment of the current situation, JKT set about planning a design to overcome the client challenges that would provide a robust and future proof portal. JKT implemented a web-based solution for the automatic upload of data from various locations using a solution based on MS-Access and WebSpeed for maintaining the product catalogue, enhancing product search and enabling and verifying credit card payments.
