The Client

The Government of Kerala has around 1,300 hospitals – ranging from none to 2,500 beds — and 10,000 public health workers. The management of the hospitals covers the entire gamut of services from queue management, billing, radiology and PACS to operation theater management, CSSD and general administration and so on.

The Challenge

All existing processes for hospital and personnel management were manual. Some users had to be trained in the use of computers. The entire healthcare infrastructure had to be automated at a state level. Since the solution had to be implemented state-wide, procuring common concessions on the software requirement was a major challenge.

The Solution

  • Customization of JK Technosoft’s existing e-health application and its integration with existing and new modules
  • Hosting of the software at the State Data Center at Trivandrum and disaster recovery at with lean servers at all locations to ensure connectivity and 100 percent availability of the services
  • Access to the software made available to around 1,300 institutions and 50,000 users from different institutions
  • Secure, smart, interactive, user friendly software with prompts to assist doctors and paramedics in all respects of medical care
  • Provision of a medical stores module for contemporary inventory control and cost analysis
  • Provision of facility for data search, analysis in time and trends, across all relevant fields to provide meaningful health data for further research, analysis and planning
  • Simplification of the process for capturing patient details and making of interfaces more intuitive for the users
  • Integration with other applications running in the SMC to access patients records available in different databases
