The Client

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has over 150 Station Medicare Centers (SMCs) which serve as primary medicare facilities at Air Force Wings and Stations. They function as OPD polyclinics that provide laboratory, radiology, physiotherapy, dental, medical examination, aviation medicine and in patient services and include facilities such as medical stores, pharmacy, medical board and a statistical module.

The Challenge

The entire administration system used manual processes; in fact, some users needed to be trained in the use of computers. Since this was a defense organization with a floating population, provision of continuous ongoing training was a major issue. Reengineering of the existing manual system was required to provide patients with a caring, professional service and to reduce waiting time at various locations.

The Solution

  • Scaling down the software used at the command hospital Bengaluru Hospital Information System (HIS) and its integration with new IAF Medicare modules
  • Hosting of the software at the IAF Data Center in Delhi and Disaster Recovery in Allahabad
  • Provision of access to around 145 SMCs and 2,000 users from the various SMCs
  • Secure, smart, interactive, user friendly software with prompts to assist doctors and paramedics in all respects of medical care
  • Provision of a medical stores module for contemporary inventory control and cost analysis
  • Provision of facility for data search, analysis in time and trends, across all relevant fields to provide meaningful health data for further research, analysis and planning
  • Simplification of the process for capturing patient details and making of interfaces more intuitive for the users
  • Integration with other applications running in the SMC to access patients records available in different databases
  • Customization of the software designed for the command hospital Bengaluru to meet the requirements of the SMCs using the Gap Analysis, using the waterfall methodology
