This London based financial services firm provides cash advances and loans for small businesses and has helped over 5,700 small businesses. In 2007 the Client filled a gap in the way small businesses were funded – there was no product specifically designed to help small businesses in the hospitality, retail and automotive sectors. They came up with Business Cash Advance, a simple advance of cash based on future credit and debit card sales. This is a flexible repayment option because fixed repayments don’t work for a lot of small businesses – which is why we link repayments directly to cash flow
The Client was facing serious scalability and performance issues in their existing Salesforce implementation. Historically, there were no Business/Application owners for the Salesforce instance & since 2007, people were just using Salesforce without any process streamlining. As a result, some of the objects were legacy and across various initiatives through the years have been created / amended ad-hoc with little or no data engineering or design.
- There were no proper configuration, Roles and Profiles defined.
- Each user has added his/her own fields and have entered data in Salesforce.
- Multiple people has admin access & no security roles defined.
- No standard Reports and dashboards.
- Objects and Fields, Page layouts are not standardized
As we are heading into a heavy transformational initiative that draws on this data, we need to urgently rationalize this data model. Identify and delete redundant fields/redistribute/renationalize normalized data segments and then fix reports/workflows etc
Conduct meetings with Business stakeholders to identify business critical information (Fields & Workflows). Streamline the Data Model by Normalizing the Objects and fields. Leverage existing data model functionalities like Account & Contact, Opportunity contact roles etc. Installed field trip application to identify unused fields. Old & unwanted fields were removed from profiles through field level security. Page layouts were updated. Hidden fields were monitored for a period of 2 months and deleted from system after taking necessary back up.
